Meet Dain Roscoe; our Operations Assistant. Dain joined Affari only 9 months ago, but in that time he has been a key asset in allowing us to grow at the right pace through the building of vital processes, enabling us to be the best we can be.

How did you find your way to Affari?

About 8 years ago now, I graduated from Nottingham Trent University where I studied Business and Financial Services. From that point, I had several different jobs before I found myself at Interoute, an IT service provider, I was an Account Manager. I decided it was time for a career change and fancied the idea of moving away from a large company and the ‘sales’ environment. Then I found myself at Affari!

My previous roles have never been directly linked to finances so it’s great to now have a position here at Affari that ties in with what I studied!

What are the three best things about yourself?

The first would be my laid back nature, it means I can get on with pretty much anybody! The second would be that I have the ability to convince anyone to go out even when they are determined that they’re ‘staying in’. Lastly, my third would be that I have a strange knack to remember football knowledge, I’ll hear it once and it’ll stick!

What’s one of your best experiences?

One of my best experiences would be learning to scuba dive whilst I was in South Australia. I’ve always taken an interest in sea-life so where else is better to take this opportunity than Oz so, I completed a PADI course whilst I was out there and then went exploring. One creature that specifically stood out was a Leafy Sea-dragon as the coast of South Australia is the only place they are located so that was a bonus!

What other interests do you have other than Affari?

Anyone that knows me, knows my love for Leicester City! I’m a dedicated fan and try to attend as many games as possible. Football overall is a massive interest of mine, I used to play until I unfortunately, got injured last year but I’m determined to get myself back into it!

Another interest of mine is music, I like to attend many different live gigs as my music taste varies from rock to rap. A lot of people wouldn’t guess this about myself but, I also like to go to live jazz shows! I have a wide appreciation for music.

What’s your favourite quote and why?

My favourite quote is from a police officer called Harrison Yates from a small town in Colorado called South Park… the quote is “Niceee!”. It’s my favourite as it can be used in so many different situations and most importantly, it annoys my girlfriend!

What’s #1 on your bucket list?

It’s not a specific activity as such, but I’d like to continue travelling to different parts of the world that I have yet to visit. So far I’ve visited Australia, Hungary, Holland, Bulgaria, America, Spain, Greece, Germany, Ireland and Poland! Two places I’m desperate to visit next are Italy and South America.

In the news story of your life, what would the headline say?

“Ageing man finally learns how to drive…”

You are hosting a dinner party and must invite 3 famous people. Who would you choose and why?

Akala, a British hip-hop artist, because he preaches a lot of important messages and I’d love the opportunity to sit and pick at his brain to see the way his mind works. The second would be, Jamie Vardy (shock!) because I can imagine him being a massive laugh and I could talk to him about Leicester. Finally, the third would be ‘Kurtan’ from the programme This Country as he is hilarious and I love his outlook on life!

What did you want to be when you were 10 years old?

A footballer!
