Meet Luke Evans; one of Affari’s Motion Designers. Luke has now been an Affarian for almost 2 years, so get to know Luke on a personal level and read all about a his viral YouTube videos and shoes that are just too big!

How did you find your way to Affari?

For my journey, it all started at college alongside some freelance work. One day, I received a phone call requesting that I work on a music video for an artist who appeared on ‘The Voice’!

After doing this job, it encouraged me to take the next step, in order to gain more industry experience, and I got myself an apprenticeship. After I completed my apprenticeship, I decided I wanted to move on and managed to secure myself a position of Junior Motion Designer at Affari!

What are the three best things about yourself?

1. I see myself as adventurous!
2. Funny – I have the tendency of making people laugh, even when I don’t mean to…
3. I’m a genuine person!

What’s one of your best experiences?

One of my best experiences is when I was once given the opportunity to do some work for the company, EE! They required this work for an event that was being held at Birmingham Arena, so it was one of my favourite experiences as I got to see my own work on the massive 360 screens; it was a great achievement, especially being just 19 years old!

What other interests do you have other than Affari?

From going on what I said about being adventurous, I love activities like kayaking, rock climbing and whilst going on all of these adventures, I love to capture all the moments through my camera; I really enjoy photography!

I also enjoy doing my own R&D work, mainly renders. I’m also into making YouTube videos!

What’s your favourite quote and why?

I don’t have a favourite quote, but I do live by this philosophy…

“There is never an end to creativity, you are constantly learning new things everyday.”

What’s #1 on your bucket list?

Number one on my bucket list is to become a YouTuber! Back when I was younger, I was bored one day and decided to make a video about a dancing banana (don’t ask) but, it became a massive hit, resulting in 3.5M views with 13K likes!

I currently have over 7,000 subscribers and I was around the 100 mark before I posted the video. It actually became so popular, that I managed to make money from it!

But now I’ve got the audience; I’d like to get into making more videos on the side.

Can you explain the shoe size joke in the office?

So basically, my mum bought me a pair of shoes and they were just too big, but I couldn’t be bothered to get them changed. They’re two sizes bigger and it became an office joke… as I had the tendency to trip over myself. I was bought one of those wooden shoe size measurers for ‘Secret Santa’ last year!

If you were an animal, what would you be and why?

An owl – I just like their eyes!

Being a dating app expert, Tinder or Bumble?

Bumble. Only because the other person has to message you first so that way, you don’t embarrass yourself by being ignored!
