Meet Jose Cuono; Affari’s Web Developer, who, just like our namesake, is Italian! From being a wine connoisseur to speaking 4 languages, get to know Jose on a personal level!

How did you find your way to Affari?

Well, originally I’m from Brazil, but have lived in Italy for the majority of my life. However, in January, I moved to the UK! When I first arrived here, I continued to work remotely on a project from back home, which eventually came to an end in June. By then, I’d already made some web-developer friends within the local area and one day, one of them recommended Affari and explained that it would be a great opportunity for me. Next thing you know, I had an Interview, and now I’m here!

What are the three best things about yourself?

1 – I’m a quiet person, but I see this as a positive thing, because I have good concentration and I am proactive.
2 – I’m a good team player!
3 – Finally, I’m extremely proud of my heritage.

What’s one of your best experiences?

One of my best experiences was when I went on a trip to China in 2002. I visited Macau, Shanghai and Shiyan. The best part about the trip was seeing the Terracotta Warriors, which is a collection of terracotta sculptures depicting the armies of Qin Chi Huang, the first Emperor of China. It was a good experience because their culture is fascinating.

What other interests do you have other than Affari?

One of my biggest interests is wine, I love it! I did attempt making my own wine one time, but it’s not for me… so I’ll just stick to drinking it!

Another interest of mine, is rugby. I enjoy watching and playing, but I don’t play as much anymore after I almost broke my shoulder!

Football is also another sport I enjoy, I support my home team Napoli and always try as hard as possible to go back and watch the games back in Naples! Naples is one of my favourite places, it just has so much soul and the environment is beautiful.

Finally, I like music – I like deep house, rock and opera, completely different I know!

What’s your favourite quote and why?

“Tardiness often robs us opportunity, and the dispatch of our forces.” – Niccolo Machiavelli. This is my favourite quote as it encourages me to open my mind.

What’s #1 on your bucket list?

Number one on my bucket list is to visit Alaska because I’d love to see the environment and wildlife – I think it would be a really interesting place to visit, as I’d like to learn about the tribes within Alaska.

If you could swap lives with anyone for one day, who would it be?

Joe Elliott, the musician. I’d love to be able to experience the ability to sing, it’s an amazing talent to have.

What did you want to be when you were younger?

A truck driver, because I loved the Coca Cola advert!

What’s a fun fact about yourself?

I can speak several languages. Italian and Portuguese as my mother tongue, a little bit of Spanish and now I’m improving my English!
