2D Animation
To showcase Fujitsu’s IT support offering; Intelligent engineering, we created a 2D explainer animation complete with voice-over to be displayed at Fujitsu Forum 2017. Alongside this, we also produced a PowerPoint deck so that the offering could be presented to an audience of clients in more detail by experts at Forum. As the animation gained much traction and engagement at Forum and thereafter, later down the line, we were approached to translate ‘Intelligent Engineering’ into 6 different languages, so that the animation could be distributed on a global scale.

Process: Concept development (styleframes), storyboarding, script and voice over.
We kicked off the project by collaborating with Fujitsu to determine their needs and the key areas they wanted to focus upon within the narrative. From here, we worked as a team to produce a set of conceptual style frames that best illustrated our ideas. The concept involved mini-scenarios that were neatly bordered by a circle enabling us to freely move between each scenario at pace. We were keen to add visual metaphors and reference platform games within the animation as this ensured our messages were visualised creatively and helped to hold our audience’s interest. Once the concept was set, we re-grouped and as a team, we began storyboarding the animation from start to finish.

Process: Cameras, rigging, and rendering.
The I.E forum animation is constant and ever evolving; transitioning from one scenario to another. The main motif throughout the animation was the flow of data; highlighting the challenges it faces. The team set about creating modular, reusable animated scenarios that could be used to highlight key points throughout the journey. Key sections such as the maze ‘levels’ helped to reinforce the datas journey as well as being a rewarding challenge to animate.

Process: Editing (video & audio), compositing, colour grading.
We worked closely with Fujitsu to ensure that the animation could be cut down into several short videos, but at the same time, function as one seamless video. The motion team seamlessly transitioned between each scene which ensured that the editing process was very straightforward. We produced one full-length video and then cut the asset into several unique videos all with their own bespoke music track for the speaker event. We finished by adding custom special effects to help enhance the visual experience and better outline the story.
