Fujitsu Forum, one of the largest events of the year for Fujitsu! For the 2017 event, we were tasked to create a conceptual animation to showcase and promote a VR experience on the ‘Enabling Digital’ stand in Munich. The unique and visually striking photo montage effect of the animation acted as a fantastic teaser to encourage people to access the stand and get involved! The experience itself involved users designing their future businesses by virtually ‘painting’ their key imperatives and challenges for growth. ‘Mastering Business Transformation’ is about bringing old ways of thinking into a modern, technological age. We depicted this through historic artistic references and visuals that transform to embody modern applications such as virtual reality headsets and QR codes.

Fujitsu approached us here at Affari with the challenge of engaging with their Utility and Manufacturing based audience in a cost-effective and visually appealing manner. We worked with Fujitsu to turn their messaging around high-risk working environments and their Health & Safety implications into a script for a simple but stylish 2D explainer animation. We then developed a series of characters and scenes that saw Fujitsu’s Enterprise Wearables in the working environments and scenarios where the products would be used. We also created the voiceovers and on-screen subtitles to ensure accessibility. The end-result was a thought-provoking explainer animation that conveyed the offering in a succinct and compelling manner.
Process: Concept development (styleframes), storyboarding, script and voice over.
At first, we collectively came together to produce a strong visual concept for the Enabling Digital stand at Fujitsu Forum 2017 to showcase and promote their VR experience. After our initial ideas were conceived, we created a series of high-quality styles to visualise the final outcome.

Process: Cameras, rigging, and rendering.
Firstly, the team first had to source the images that would be used in the scenes. Once sourced, the photography was then edited in photoshop to the style frame specifications; the Art Direction is minimalist in nature bringing absolute focus to the foreground and action, with a black and white grade to the 2D imagery allowing us to focus attention on highlighting any key visuals. Then, the hero motif was applied throughout the video and to pay homage to the Digital Transformation campaign. As this was a seamless animation, a fast camera movement enhanced the pace of the animation helping to immerse the viewer into the narrative; moving between scenes without cuts to constantly engage the audience. Finally, bold typography was involved throughout to highlight the key messages within the core narrative.

Process: Editing (video & audio), compositing, colour grading.
The team worked very closely to ensure seamless transitions were made throughout the animation. This meant that the editing stage was less pressured as all edits had been accounted for in the storyboarding and production stages. Each rendered section simply stitched together without the need of lengthy and unnecessary editing. We employed a fast cut editing style in the intro and outro and once the animation had been rendered, we continued to use this style of editing throughout to enhance certain sections that lacked in pace.
